From the Head Shed

We are moving forward with the reunion planning. Locked on are:
  • Hotel-Hampton Inn Sneads Ferry/North Topsail. Confirmation code is 2RB, rate is $119.
  • Buses
  • Venue for Association dinner-Paradise Point Officers Club (yes, we enlisted swine can attend)
  • Request for base access-submitted
  • Guest speaker: Col. Shi
  • Challenge coins for new members-ordered
  • Reunion check-in: Rhonda Seaman
  • Award for Battalion-pending names and measurements. Hodge Jordan's shop will engrave knives and swords.
  • Lunch at battalion: Mike Marion and Monroe Stueber are looking for caterers.
  • Registration-David Barton should have this up and running by 1 March. Bob is standing by to assist.
  • Luke Rutherford is working on the spring FRAG. He will include a paper registration form for those who do not use modern communications.
Future Ops:
  • Otis Kerr had contacted Col Mike Williams (Ret.) and several other members from the Gulf War era.
  • I have contacted SgtMaj. St. Pierre (Ret.)
  • Hopefully we will see both of them at the reunion
  • Otis had a great idea. LtGen. David Berger was a company commander, and our S-3 and S-4 during the Gulf War. 2020 will be the 30th anniversary of Desert Shield/Storm. He suggested inviting him to be our guest speaker. I have it on good information that he is a top candidate for Commandant. Unless there is an objection, I plan to send out the invite very shortly.
